Welcome back to school for the 2016-2017 School Year! We are excited to start school and get learning new information! Please remember to send your child to school with a water bottle! Hydration is extremely important in our hot desert climate this time of year. Should you have any questions about anything, don't hesitate to contact the front office @ 520-568-6100.

Greetings Bobcat Families:

It's already that time of year to start heading back to school! I am sure many families are ready for school to begin again! We are looking forward to having all of our students back too! I hope you were all able to rest and recharge for the new school year! I was able to spend time with my family, friends & colleagues over the break for relaxation and new learning.

Over the summer, I attended professional development with colleagues from our district, state and world! We learned about many ways to engage students with our academic focus, STEAM -Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math, through meaningful learning that excites them. It also prepares them for future careers with project based learning that many schools and districts have done over the years. We came away with many ideas for STEAM projects that not only engage the students, but serve a broader purpose to make a difference in the lives of other members of our community. It is my hope that our teachers experiment and embrace project based learning to inspire our students to not only love learning, but to become great and productive citizens of our world.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at Meet the Teacher Night, which is Thursday, August 4th from 5-6:30 pm. Please enter through the multi-purpose room. Your child's classroom teacher will be contacting you all next week to introduce themselves. Our grade level supply lists are online at our website, in our front office and also at Walmart. You may bring any supplies to Meet the Teacher Night or on the first day of school, Monday, August 8th. As a reminder, students may report to school by 8:05 a.m. and students should be ready to start the day in their new desks at 8:35 a.m.!   We encourage your children to bring water bottles to school to keep hydrated during this very hot weather.  Wednesday, 8/10 is an early release day at 1:35, as well as every Wednesday throughout the school year.  Please notify your child's classroom teacher by completing the afternoon dismissal form at Meet the Teacher Night so your child goes home to the appropriate dismissal area.  Please read the following page for information regarding our updated dismissal procedures due to increased enrollment.

I look forward to working with you and your child this year to make this the best school year ever! Enjoy the rest of the summer and we will see you soon!

Updated 2016-17 School Year Dismissal Procedures for
"Park and Pick Up" Kindergarten Students:

Due to increased enrollment and to ensure a safe dismissal, "Park & Pick-Up" kindergarten students will be released at 3:20 p.m. Students will be released at the front of the school only to parents who walk to the building's far west door to pick up his/her child. This door is near the music room & at the furthest west entry into the building. Parents must park in the visitor parking lot at the front of the school in the parking area closest to the front office. No vehicles may be in the "Bus Lane"/Fire Lane closest to the curb of the school as this is a violation to mix parent and bus traffic. We have buses that arrive around this same time to await pick up of students at 3:35.

1st-6th Grade Non Bus Riders:

As a reminder, there are a few options for students who do not ride the bus. Students who walk or bike away from school will be released before "Park and Pick-Up" students to ensure a safe release away from parent traffic.

• 1st -6th Grade "Park & Pick-Up" students: Parents must park in the west parking lot and pick up your child from the playground gate. Please realize many parents choose this option to pick up children, so please take your time and be patient.
• Walk or Bike to school.
• Park and Pick up your child at the other side of any of the 4 crosswalks surrounding our school.

  • o Butterfield Pkwy/Santa Cruz Crosswalk -North Side
  • o Honeycutt/Donithan Crosswalk -South Side
  • o Duncan/Mc Cord Crosswalk -West Side
  • o Donithan/Mc Cord Crosswalk -East Side
