My name is Kim Thatcher and I have been in education since 2009. I am a graduate of Northern Arizona University and have the pleasure of working for MUSD for the past four years. I have three children, all of whom attend Butterfield Elementary this year. We reside in Maricopa and I am proud to be a part of this community.

I am an avid reader and I believe that literacy is the foundation to a student’s success. Not only is it important to learn how to read, it is most important that children love and enjoy books. As a teacher, one of my strongest beliefs is that any child has the ability to learn.

If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.

~Ignacio Estrada

I also believe that every child can succeed if given the right opportunity. I will provide that opportunity with a warm environment so that students will feel safe to learn.

Parent-teacher communication is also another factor in your child's success. It is important for you to know your child’s progression in the class as well as it is important for me to know about your child’s well-being. If a child is having a bad morning or is feeling under the weather – whatever the issue is, please let me know so that I can work with your child to succeed.
